At the Annual Summer Club Meeting, it was voted in that next season the Club will donate the clay birds to the team. This means the Team Shooters only have to pay for their shells.
Hopefully reduced cost will attract more students to give the sport a try a team sport that they can do the rest of their lives. All kids who join the team will shoot every week of the season and all scores will count, regardless of ability.
If there is enough interest, we may have more practice nights this fall, but it will depend on the turnout we have for the first one.
We will open up the traps and the clubhouse at 5:00pm and will go until 9:00pm as long as people want to shoot. We may shut things down earlier depending on how many show up.
Rifle Range Repairs
The rifle and pistol ranges are in need for some repair. When we have time between trap rounds on Tuesday, September 30th we will start making some repairs and clean the place up a little.
Target backstops need to be repaired and replaced, and there is some trash that needs to be picked up. If you use the range and think it could use some repairs, please come out next Tuesday and give us a hand. Promise we won't work anyone too hard.

Sunday we hosted the Indianhead Sunday League shoot. For those who aren't familiar with it, it's a 50 bird shoot that travels between participating clubs. There are five shoots a year, all at a different club. It's a fun way to shoot trap go a see other clubs.
About every other year, we host a shoot at our place. Sunday we had 33 squads of shooters go through. Figuring those who shot it twice, it was around 130 to 150 people
Hosting that many people and running them through smoothly takes a lot of work, but it is a huge fundraiser for our club and really helps us out. Thanks once again to all who helped out signing up shooters, running the concessions, loading the houses and scoring. We really could have used some more help.
Next time we host an event like this, we will do a better job of letting people know about it in advance. Having a few more people helping out, even for an hour or two would have made the event run a little better.
Those who didn't show up also missed out on a great day for shooting. Quite a few 25 and 50 straights were shot. Jason Johnson from Grantsburg was able to shoot a 100 straight.

The dates have been set for the annual Grudge Matches between Cushing Rifle Club and Grantsburg Rod & Gun Club. The grudge matches are a 50 bird shoot with one round of 25 from the 16 yard line and one round of 25 from the 27 yard line.
Shooters of all abilities are welcome and encouraged to show up and take part in both grudge matches. They are a lot of fun and gives some a chance to shoot at a range they usually don't get to.
