The AR-15 / M-4 Platform has been around for many year and is a functional part of most Law Enforcement Agencies, 3 Gun competitions as well as recreational shooter. However there still exists a significant misunderstanding in the system, its operation and functioning in how it works and how to work the system.

After observing and training thousands of shooters from Military, Law Enforcement and the Private sector and watching the struggles and trials with the AR, we have decided to conduct an operational 5 hour block of instruction on the topics below to help every shooter become more confident and proficient and have more enjoyment with the platform.

1. Cleaning, operations and maintenance. How to make it run and keep it running.
2. Loads – Unloads – Reloads and Clears – Efficiently and Safety
3. Malfunctions and remediation’s – All Levels
4. Zero’s and zeroing and Optics
5. Accessories, Magazines, Lights, Suppressors, Etc.
6. Handling, shooting platforms and manipulations of the system
7. Positional and Offhand shooting and handling
8. Moving with a system
9. Range Drills

The course is sponsored by the Grantsburg Gun Range 3 Gun program and taught by instructional staff with years of instructional experience with the M-4 Platform.

There will be a minimal registration fee of $20.00 dollars to cover presentation costs which will go back to the program to purchase additional equipment and to promote the 3 gun competition.

Everyone from the Experience Law Enforcement Officer to the beginning novice will gain critical information from this program, which will make you a better, safer and more competent user of the platform.

We've won the final Grugde Match against the Grantsburg Rod & Gun Club

Not only did we beat the Grantsburg Rod and Gun Club 296 to 245 at tonight's grudge match; they threw in the towel and canceled next week's shoot at their club! After talking it over among themselves, Grantsburg decided they no longer want to have the two shoot per year Grudge Match series with Cushing, since they can't get enough shooters to show up to the events. Long story short, the traveling grudge match trophy is ours to keep!

Thank you to the 23 Shooters who beat up their 8. We even had Members showed up, after Grantsburg conceded and went home, who didn't even shoot. Sorry to those who skipped tonight's shoot to go to the Fair and were planning on going to Grantsburg next week. We know that many of you look forward to going to Grantsburg once a year to shoot at their range. It's sad to see this tradition end.

If you would still like to shoot at Grantsburg next week, they are hosting the final Indianhead Sunday League shoot of the 2016 season on Sunday, August 7th. 50 birds all from 16 yards for $8.00 for adults and only $3.00 for youth.

For more info click on this link.

For next year we may have a mid season fun night to replace the grudge match with Grantsburg. Or perhaps we could  start a grudge match with Balsam Lake Rod and Gun Club, Osceola Rod & Gun Club, or another area club willing to have some fun with us. We are open to ideas for events like this for our Club. If you have a suggestion, we would like to hear it.

Final Indianhead Sunday League Shoot for 2016 is Sunday, August 14th

The Grantsburg Rod & Gun Club is hosting the final Indianhead Sunday League shoot of the 2016 season on Sunday, August 14th. Currently Cushing is in second place and with a strong showing at Grantsburg, we could take first place.

If you are not familiar with the Sunday League, there are ten area clubs in the league. There are five shoots per year and you do not need to participate in all of them. The shoots take place about every other Sunday during the summer months and are at a different club each shoot. The shoots are 50 birds, all from 16 yards, for $8.00 for adults and only $3.00 for youth. You can shoot a second 50 if you want to represent another club.

These family friendly events are a great way to get out and visit some other clubs, socialize with some great people and shoot trap at a different setting. They are awards for the top Shooters for male, female, senior and junior, if you're serious about that stuff.

We are asking for all who might be interested to please attend this upcoming shoot in Grantsburg. Since they no longer want to have our annual Grudge Matches, because none of their Club Members travel, it would put the explanation point on how our Club is the more fun Club if we have a better showing at their own shoot then they have!

So please, if you can make it go shoot the Sunday Shoot at the Grantsburg Rod and Gun Club. Sunday, August 7th. Sign up anytime between 9:00am and 4:00pm.

Sunday League Shoot this Sunday at Cushing

Indianhead Sunday Trap League starts June 12th. We are hosting the first of the five Indianhead Sunday Trap League shoots this year on Sunday, June 12th.

If you are not familiar with  the Sunday League, it is a traveling trap shoot that takes place over the summer on about every other Sunday. There are currently ten clubs that are in the league and  there are five trap shoots, each at a different club. It’s a 50 Bird shoot, all from 16 yard.

This is a great opportunity for club members to shoot trap without having to comment to a summer league. It’s also a chance to visit other clubs in the area from Fishbowl (Webster) down to River Falls.

We will be hosting the first shoot this year on Sunday, June 12th. If you can make it, please come on out & represent your club. If you could come out and help score and load houses, your help would be greatly appreciated. Even if you can only help for an hour or two. This event can be a good fund raiser for our club if there is a good turn out.

Hope to see many of you there. Bring friends!
